Year 5: Science

May 23, 2024
Year 5 have been looking at 'Materials' in Science and have been focusing particularly on methods of separating different materials. Evaporation, filtration, sieving and using magnets were just some of the ways the children explored separating materials, making excellent scientific observations while doing so.

This week, their skills were put to the test as they needed to work as a team to separate the messy mixture! Pasta, sand, paperclips, raisins and water proved a difficult combination to separate quickly and required a lot of time, concentration and trial and error to get each component back to its original state. The children thoroughly enjoyed getting messy and applying the knowledge and skills they had acquired over the last few weeks.

Excellent job, Year 5!
