Times Table Challenge 2022
Throughout the year, Mr Hobson runs a highly competitive times table competition for our KS2 children. With each round of the competition, the points are collected in preparation for the big reveal of who the times table champions are going to be!
Well done to this year's winners who scored 150/150 and 146/150! Very impressive results!
Caring and Achievement Awards 2022
Year 6: Forest School
Last week, 6KB celebrated the end of their time at Forest School with a wonderful campfire. Despite the warm weather, everyone enjoyed hot dogs, s’mores and cups of hot chocolate around the fire. All the children toasted a marshmallow on the fire under the watchful eye of Liz Ladybird and Paul Pine. As the children enjoyed their snacks, we talked about the things we have enjoyed the most and what we could do to make it even better. Our favourite suggestion was a tree house and a park; we will see!
Thank you for being wonderful participants over the last few weeks!
Sports Day 2022
Next, it was the turn of our KS2 athletes. The children took part in eleven different events that tested their skills of throwing, jumping, running and ball control. Fantastic teamwork was demonstrated by all. At different points of the afternoon, each team took a turn to be in the lead but the final result was decided by the highly competitive relay race! There could only be one winner and this year, the winning house was...Ascot!
Finally, it was the turn of our KS1 children. Heading out to the field in their red, yellow, green and blue outfits, our keen athletes were bouncing with excitement! The children took part in six different events including the relay, football dribbling and bean bag throwing. It was a close competition but this year, the winning house was...Goodwood!
Year 6: Little Canada

Year 1: Music and Computing
On the iPads, they have loved using Garage Band to create their own digital tracks by exploring the different instruments. One of their favourite challenges has been coming up with different clapping rhythms on the Beat Sequencer.
In Music, they have also been exploring different rhythms using percussion. The children loved learning the names and how to play the various instruments. They then had to compose their own rhythm patterns using frogs (1 beat) and tadpoles (2 beats).

Well done, Year 2!
Readers' Treat: Summer Term
There have been some great predictions this week and the children are definitely getting closer to guessing what it could be!
Each week, the children in both our KS1 and KS2 assembly will be tasked with selecting a number card to remove. Each number card chosen will reveal a letter which will be needed to spell out the treat by the end of the term.
Let's see if we can have even more of you participating in this round of the Readers' Treat!
Awesome Attendance Winners (w/c 27th June)
At Hacton, we have introduced a celebration of our attendance. Each week, as part of our assembly, we will announce who the Awesome Attendance winners are. They will get to have our Attendance cup for the week and will be rewarded with a treat in recognition of their fabulous attendance.

Year 1: Barnards Farm
Year 1 were extremely excited to be going on their first school trip. Even the drops of rain weren't enough to dampen the children's spirits! The children had a lovely time at Barnards Farm looking at over 100 different sculptures in the gardens. The children enjoyed exploring the gardens and their favourite sculptures included the Sitooterie and a bull made from different car parts.
After an al fresco lunch, the children continued to explore the gardens before the making the journey back to Hacton. During the day, the children used their knowledge of sculptures and materials from our recent Science and Art units.
Thank you to all the children who were extremely well behaved and to our lovely parent volunteers.
Reception: Bog Baby
Skipping Workshop
On Monday, we welcomed a fabulous squad of skipping coaches. The children enjoyed learning different skips and skills from the single bounce, to the 'lasso' and even the 'pretzel' skip! In the afternoon, we then came together as a whole school where some of our skipping stars wowed us with the brilliant tricks they'd picked up during the day.
Well done everyone! Let's keep skipping, Hacton!
