Hacton's Recipe for Friendship

In assemblies last week, we thought about the qualities of a friend. Our pupils reflected on the way we show friendship to others and the role that our friends have in our lives. During Friday’s assembly, the children created their very own recipe for the perfect friend.

An Inspirational Visit from Randolph Matthews

Last week, our pupils experienced the captivating and uplifting sounds of ‘vocal voyager’, Randolph Matthews. Looping and layering beats and voice, Randolph’s exploration of sound engaged and inspired children from Year 1 to Year 6. A fantastic whole school assembly began with Randolph amazing and entertaining everyone with his unique vocal talents and sense of humour.

Throughout the day, Key Stage 2 participated in year group workshops that guided children on a journey through sound where they discovered the endless possibilities of their voices. Randolph delighted the children using sounds to great comic effect, filling the hall with laughter and joy.

Arabella (Year 3): “He was funny. He had a really good voice. I would like to be able to sing as good as that. We were lucky to see him in school.”

Samuel (Year 5): “I liked how his voice went really high and really low. His bird sound was very clever.”

Trenyce (Year 5): “He taught us loads of different things like beat boxing and how to change your voice into different styles. The best part was when he taught us his favourite song ‘Belle Mama’.”

Jadyn (Year 3): “I liked the beat boxing best. I’m practising beat boxing at home and singing a lot more now.”

The superb vocals, energy and fun of the sessions left a lasting impression on our pupils. Inspirational!

Thank you Randolph for a brilliant day.

Singing Assembly: "As One"

Our pupils always enjoy their singing assemblies. This week, Key Stage 2 children sang their heart-warming version of "As One" - a song with an important message about the world we live in.

We’ve got to get on together, think of each other,
Look at ways to help us to get along.
If we can learn how to listen, where there’s division,
we can live as one.

We’ve got to trust one another, stand with each other,
fix our eyes on all that’s right not wrong.
If we can learn to be sorry, love everybody,
we can live as one
