Year 2: Science Club

January 24, 2022

As part of the children working towards the Star Crest Awards, we investigated and made a substance called Oobleck. They were given 50ml cornflour, 25ml water and some food colouring. They then explored the changing texture of the substance and enjoyed squishing it, mixing and playing with it on their plate.

The children then had to move the substance into a small pot to take home which caused much excitement because it kept changing from a solid to a liquid! They discovered that when you leave it, it is runny but when you try to pick it up or scrape it, it changes to a crumbly solid.

This is a very easy and fun activity to do at home and can create some excellent conversations and observations.
