Year 2: Art

January 24, 2022

This half term, the pupils have been studying the more unusual work of 16th century Italian artist Giuseppe Arcimboldo. This artist used oil paints to create some artwork displaying the four seasons and four elements.

Instead of using oil paints, the children were given a wide variety of fruits and vegetables to recreate one of Arcimboldo's more famous works entitled 'Rudolf II of Hapsburg as Vertumnus' painted in 1590.
They worked together in small groups to compose the face and body, selecting an appropriate food for each part of the face.

We were really impressed with their creations and we hope you are too!
