Year 1: Science

January 14, 2022

This half term in Science, Year 1 are learning all about Winter.

The children have been learning that as the weather becomes colder, the mornings may be icy and the days are shorter. They have also learnt that deciduous trees lose their leaves whereas evergreen trees stay green all year round, just like a Christmas tree!

This week the children were learning what animals do in the winter. We talked about the migration of some birds to hotter countries and that some animals hibernate during the winter. The children then went outside to make a hibernation nest for a dormouse or a hedgehog.
