Year 2: Microhabitats

October 05, 2021

Year 2 have been learning about the four world habitats: Rainforest, Arctic, Ocean and Desert. This week we learnt about microhabitats and discovered that these are very small habitats located within a larger habitat.

Microhabitats can be on top of or underneath a leaf, under a stone, on or amongst the soil and even under a fallen tree branch. Year 2 sensibly relocated to the field this week to see how many minibeasts they could find within microhabitats. We found woodlice, ants, worms and even a spider!
