Y1 Music: Pulse

November 26, 2020

Year 1 have been learning about the 'pulse': the steady beat in a piece of music. We have listened to 'The March of the Elephants' and marched in time to the strong beat compared to the very fast 'The Flight of the Bumblebee.' We have been learning to keep the beat to a piece of music, which we have learnt is a lot harder than it looks! Today we practised keeping the pulse to the rhyme 'Engine, Engine Number Nine' before composing our very own beat patterns to go with the rhyme. We had a lot of fun and enjoyed sharing our ideas with the class.
