Reception: Room on the Broom

November 06, 2020

Reception children put on their wellies and coats and set off for a windy story walk on the school field this week.  They discovered some of the characters and props from Room on the Broom by Julia Donaldson. Children searched high and low and were very excited to find everything they needed to retell the story: a bird with a bow, a dog with a hat, a frog with a wand and even a broomstick that had snapped in two.  Fortunately, no hungry dragons were spotted at Hacton! Children have been working hard this week to sequence the story that they experienced.

Here are some comments from our Reception children:

"Everything was outside on the grass that the witch dropped because it was so windy!"

"The cat was hiding in a tree and even the bird was outside too.  The witch came to Hacton but we didn't find a dragon though."
