Year 1: The Gingerbread Man

May 26, 2021

This week we have finished our work on 'The Gingerbread Man.' Each of the children designed their very own gingerbread biscuit to try to sell to Tesco or Sainsbury's. The children then wrote their own persuasive piece to try and convince the bosses to buy their gingerbread biscuits. These definitely were the tastiest, biggest, most scrumptious gingerbread biscuits to have graced Hornchurch. The children then got to make their designs in real life before taste testing them to check the quality was all good enough!

In DT, the children have been studying materials and houses. The children chose a character ranging from Mr Tall to Mr Small to a princess to an alien to design a house for. Having drawn up their plans, the children then attempted to make their houses using various materials. They worked well in teams working out how best to execute their designs. They then learnt how they could use various materials to try and design interior furniture. The children had a lovely time and rose to the designing challenge.
