P-HIC: Deaf Swimming Gala

May 11, 2022

On Wednesday 27th April, nine children from the P-HIC competed in a Deaf Swimming Gala at the Aquatic Centre in the Olympic Park.

Six schools attended and our squad competed against seven other teams. The children had to compete in a range of races including a 10m free style, a 20m relay and a treasure hunt.

Our Hacton team came 4th overall and each child was presented with a certificate and medal. We won the treasure hunt and was presented with a tile from the pool, signed by Tom Daley!

Throughout the trip, our children had the opportunity to meet other deaf children and adults. They were also able to use their experience as the focus of their Literacy lesson when writing a recount of the trip.
