Year 3 Science: The Life Cycle of Plants

April 14, 2015
Before the Easter holiday, Year 3 planted tomato seeds in a propagator as a part of their next science topic – The Life Cycle of Plants. Over the Easter holiday the seeds geminated as they were warm, had water and a nutritious environment in which to grow. As these new plants became stronger and grew new leaves to enable them to create more food for themselves they needed to be transplanted into bigger pots.

Our Year 3 scientists diligently prepared the soil for the next stage of the plants life, gently uprooted them, taking care not to disturb the roots too much, watered them adequately and placed them back in their favourite position on our window sill to ensure continued warmth and sunlight. We can’t wait to prepare our pasta dish with a home grown tomato sauce later on in the year.
