The Election: Democracy?

In assembly, we looked closely at democracy and how in our country it is used so that everyone, who is eligible to vote, has a say in how our country is run. We looked at why democracy is often taken for granted and discussed what life would be like if we did not live in a democratic nation. It was interesting to discuss the ways in which we use democracy in school; voting for our house captains, choosing our school council representatives and even helping to make decisions in class all require democracy along with many other skills.

In the run up to the General Election, children have been challenged to think about other times in life when we use democracy.
