Year 5: Junior Maths Challenge

June 13, 2025
Before half term, several of our Year 5 pupils participated in the Junior Maths Challenge.

The JMC is an annual competition aimed at students in Year 8 and below. This 60 minute, in-school Challenge consists of 25 multiple-choice questions, which cover a wide range of topics such as arithmetic, algebra, geometry, logic, and number theory. The questions are designed to test students' mathematical reasoning and problem-solving abilities. Top-performing students can achieve Bronze, Silver or Gold certificates and, score dependent, are invited to take part in the follow-on rounds - the Junior Kangaroo or Junior Mathematical Olympiad. Receiving a certificate is normally underheard of for our primary pupils; however, we are VERY pleased and proud to announce that we had one Gold winner and two Bronze winners this year!

A huge well done to all of our mathematicians that took part!
