In Year 1 this term, we are learning all about Materials and their properties.
As part of this learning, the children were involved in investigating the best materials for building a house for The Three Little Pigs. We went out on the playground and built houses with straw, sticks and bricks. We then tested if the houses were windproof when the big, bad wolf huffed and puffed and if the houses were waterproof. Both of these tests caused a great deal of excitement when the houses blew away or the children pretending to be the little pigs in the brick house got a little wet!
What a fun way to investigate and learn first hand!
