Last week, our school celebrated Deaf Awareness Week with a range of engaging activities across all year groups. Pupils explored BSL through signed stories from the BSL Signed Kids Stories – RAD Learn collection, following along as teachers read the text aloud, making it accessible for everyone.
Classes also took part in the National Deaf Children’s Society Deaf Awareness Quiz, helping to build understanding and empathy. Additional activities included wordsearches, presentations, and a creative project where some pupils in Key Stage 2 designed album covers inspired by Deaf musician SignKid, whose work they explored online.
It has been a fantastic opportunity to celebrate Deaf culture, communication and inclusion across our school.
