Year 6: History

November 10, 2021

Yesterday, Year 6 were extremely fortunate to take part in an online session with Eve Kugler as a part of a Holocaust outreach program.

Eve Kugler was a Jewish child who lived in Nazi Germany. Her father owned his own business which was destroyed on his arrest on Kristallnacht. The anti-sematic experiences this then young child faced and endured were both heart-breaking and inspiring. Finally, after losing her grandfather, leaving her mother, father and siblings, she was shipped to New York and fostered. Having learnt English in just three months and desperately trying to fit in, she still cried herself to sleep every night – despite feeling lucky to be free (unlike many who she met on her journey).

Proud to be Jewish, Eve was able to send messages of acceptance, of love and of understanding.
