Year 1: PSHE

November 08, 2021

The future is looking bright for Year One!

The children have recently learnt about the different jobs that they could do when they grow up, the skills that are needed to achieve their future ambitions and why stereotypes for certain jobs need to be challenged.

This week, Firefighter Nicola Holgate visited Hacton Primary School. The children came up with some interesting questions for our special visitor and discovered that having a positive learning attitude will help you to achieve great things in the future.

The children also learnt about common fire hazards, the dangers of playing with matches and lighters, how to keep homes safe from fire and what to do if an emergency arises.

Saving the best bit until last, the children were given the opportunity to explore real life equipment used by firefighters.

Watch this space… I think we have some future real-life superheroes among us!
