Year 6: Virtual RAF Museum Session

December 11, 2020

Year 6 were extremely lucky this week to have the opportunity of being involved in an online session with the RAF museum. The session was based on Christmas during World War II and was hosted by a keen war historian who was full of interesting knowledge. The children were able to see pictures of the games that families used to play at Christmas time, the types of decorations that they made with old and recycled materials, and the different foods that they managed to make with their rations.

Also included within the presentation were short videos recorded by an older member of society that was an evacuee during the wart. Normally, she would give short presentations based on her experiences; however, the videos identified what Christmas was like for her as a child, what joyful memories she has and how Christmas today is different.
