Year 5: Parachutes

December 03, 2020

To apply our knowledge of air resistance, the children in year 5 investigated different parachute designs. Some big, some small and some unusually shaped. To make it a fair test, we tested each one 3 times and took note of the length of time in which it took to reach the ground. Our results showed us that the larger the surface area of the parachute, the more air resistance affected (slowed) the rate at which it fell.
