Last week, our Hacton pupils supported Mental Health Awareness Week. In line with this year's theme of 'Community', our Wellbeing Ambassadors worked alongside their class and class teacher to decide on a community based project to participate in. As a school, we value the sense of belonging and the importance of no member of our Hacton community feeling alone. This year, we wanted to share this message, spread some joy and show our appreciation to our wider school community.
Nursery
The children thought about how being part of the nursery community makes them feel - happy, safe, loved and excited. They then painted pebbles to put in the nursery garden to welcome the new children next year.
Reception and Year 5
Our Reception pupils partnered up with Year 5 to share a story in the sunshine. It was lovely to see the Year 5 children reading their favourite story and the Reception children offering handmade thank you cards to show their appreciation.
Year 1
Our Year 1 pupils have been busy working together to develop our garden planters. Thanks to a generous donation from one of our parents, the children not only weeded the garden, prepared the soil and planted seeds, but they also got to plant a variety of fruit and vegetables that they can nurture and grow. It really was a brilliant team effort and something we look forward to continuing to nurture.
Year 2
Year 2 have been reflecting on the importance of our local services such as the police, fire brigade and hospital. They put their thanks and gratitude into hand written letters which have been posted.
Year 3
Year 3 wanted to spread some joy within our school and the wider community so decided to write letters to the local care home, post positivity cards to local residents and paint positivity stones which have been hidden around our school grounds for others to find.
Year 4
Also wanting to spread some joy in our wider community, Year 4 made positivity posters which have been hand delivered to local residents around our school.
Year 6
On their celebratory trip to the park, our Year 6 pupils went litter picking to help keep our local area clean and tidy.
