Year 2: Literacy Week

April 07, 2025
In Year 2, we have been focusing on the tale of 'Little Red Riding Hood'. Throughout the week, the children have experienced a range of versions including 'Little Red and the Very Hungry Lion', 'Ninja Red Riding Hood' and a version of the story where Little Red wears a hoodie instead of a cape.

As oracy was the focus of the week, the children retold the story using the Helicopter storytelling style and used hot seating and role play to help their creativity and imagination. They were also given art activities to complete, including using lines and shapes to create a drawing, a collaborative piece of artwork where the children changed the setting and villains and also a split pin Red Riding Hood.

The children have fully immersed themselves in stories this week and at at the end of each day, they have had the opportunity to experience stories from different teachers and to join friends from across the year group when making their book choices!

Thank you for a wonderful week, Year 2!
