A Monument-al Day Out!

October 26, 2024
On Thursday, a small group of children visited The Monument in London to enhance their learning about the Great Fire of London.

As soon as they came out of the station, the children were amazed to see The Monument itself, having only seen it in pictures. The joy on their faces was infectious! Once inside, they all climbed the 311 steps spiralling upwards to the top. All of the children were extremely brave and completed the climb at a steady pace; it was more the adults who were out of breath!

The views from the top were astounding! The children could see St. Paul's Cathedral, The Shard, the River Thames, the Tower of London and Tower Bridge. Here, they recalled the facts they had learnt about the Great Fire of London with enthusiasm before having lunch by the river.
