Reception: Butterflies

June 08, 2021

The week before half term we finally said goodbye to our butterflies in Reception. As we eagerly awaited, the cocoons all hatched open to reveal our beautiful butterflies. We have been watching them unfurl their wings and flutter about in the nets but ultimately, we knew that we needed to release them into the gardens.

“We released them because they are butterflies now and they need to fly away,” said a child from Elephant class.

“We released them onto the flowers to look for nectar,” said a child from Giraffe class.

“We released them because they’ll be bigger and they’ll eat more,” said a child from Lion class.

“Because we can’t keep them in the net forever. Because they need to go free,” said another Lion child.
