Year 6 English: Horrifying Howlers

March 22, 2021

Year 6 have worked extremely hard over the last two weeks to complete a piece of writing based on Harry Potter, more specifically the howler scene. The piece started with setting the scene (in the Great Hall) and then moved on to describe the owl's arrival, the mail being delivered and Ron's misfortune of receiving a howler. Through watching short clips from the film and sharing their ideas, the children have developed their use of descriptive language, used a range of openers, and tried to use a wide range of punctuation. Some of the pieces could definitely be published - they are that good!

As a treat for their hard work, the children had the opportunity to create their own howlers with ferocious looking teeth and snake like tongues.

Well done Year 6.
