Welcome Back

September 05, 2018
With impressive new pencil cases, smart uniforms and excited smiles our children began the new school year full of energy and enthusiasm. After what we hope was an enjoyable and restful summer, both staff and pupils are now looking forward to the jam-packed calendar of events that we have planned for the autumn term.

As the learning journey for 2018-2019 commences, children will this week be issued with their essential travel documentation: passports and boarding cards. Our year group passports outline the expectations in reading, writing and mathematics for the year ahead and the boarding cards list experiences and suggested texts along with authors which children can enjoy throughout the year.

To support our curriculum further, we have this year introduced The Knowledge to support your child’s learning. These booklets outline the essential facts that your child should be able to recall for each of our humanities and science units of work and will be given out at the beginning of each new topic. Furthermore, they outline the tests that will be used to monitor the progress your child has made in these areas. We hope that you will find these supportive and that they will give you a flavour of how we plan our curriculum.

We hope you have an easy time settling back into the school routine and enjoy the start of another fun-filled school year. Keep checking our school blog to find out more about what is going on at Hacton.
