We're Going on a Bear Hunt with Year 1

October 23, 2014
Year 1 have been reading ‘We’re Going on a Bear Hunt’. Last week, a letter arrived on Mrs Burks’ desk telling Year 1 that they had to go on a bear hunt. Mrs Burks quickly gathered the children and walked hastily to Miss Robinson’s classroom. Miss Robinson reports:

"Well, all of a sudden, there was a knock on the door. It was Mrs Burks telling us that we were going on a bear hunt. The first clue led us to the field to find swishy swashy grass. We followed Mrs Burks’ class down the corridor and felt the grass outside. We found another clue that led to the mucky gardening club (we knew where to go because we had a map to help us). The next clue told us to find the cool water so we decided to go to the swimming pool. Mrs Burks bravely opened the swimming pool door and found our next clue. We needed to find some trees, so we went to the junior playground. As we were making our way to the playground, we stumbled onto the next clue that said we should find some snow. We looked in the infant playground but couldn’t see any. We thought it must have melted until somebody found it in the gazebo! The final clue told us to listen for the growls that could be heard near the hall. We tip-toed to the hall listening carefully as we didn’t want to scare off the bear. We slowly approached the hall where we discovered lots of teddies waiting for us to join them for a wonderful picnic."
