Year 6: Hornchurch Country Park Trip

October 19, 2023
This week, Year 6 discovered the history of Hornchurch Country Park and its links to WWII thanks to our very own knowledgeable tour guide, Mr Manning. Through wandering around the grounds on a crisp morning, the children explored WWII artefacts, such as tett turrets, gun emplacements, E-type fighter dispersal pens and pillboxes. The children were also able to handle wartime artefacts, including weapons and shrapnel from aircrafts. Year 6 learnt many interesting facts about Hornchurch and its role during WWII and it really helped to bring their classroom learning to life.

Thank you to Mr Manning for such a brilliant tour of our local area!
