Year 3: Roman Week

Roman Week

The final week of last half term was a busy one for our Year 3 children: Roman Week! All of our lessons and activities were closely linked to our History topic of the Romans, from writing diary entries, telling the time using Roman numerals and even creating our very own miniature Mount Vesuvius’.

One of the most popular activities was making Roman shields. Did you know that they were quite light and were curved to protect a Roman soldier’s entire body? After making the shields, we went outside onto the field in the glorious sunshine to create the famous formations: tortoise, orb, pig’s head and chariot. The clear favourite was the tortoise formation.

We hope that you enjoy looking at all of the fantastic pictures of Roman week and day. Well done Year 3 for being so enthusiastic and brilliant!
