Year 2 had a fantastic time stepping back in history for our Great Fire of London Day! The children arrived dressed up and ready to experience life in 1666.
During the morning, the hall was transformed into a bustling 17th-century street, filled with sights, sounds, and smells from the past. The children explored a range of free-flow activities, including becoming perfumers, bakers, apothecaries, seamstresses, weavers, and leather workers. Each station gave them a hands-on opportunity to discover different trades and crafts from the time of the Great Fire.
The children threw themselves into the role play and creative activities, using their imagination to bring history to life. It was wonderful to see how engaged and enthusiastic everyone was!
In the afternoon, Year 2 became archaeologists, carefully sifting through ashes to uncover clues about what might have survived the fire. It was a brilliant day of learning through play, and the children came away with a deeper understanding of how people lived during the Great Fire of London — and how communities rebuilt after disaster.
