As part of our Religious Education curriculum, Year 2 recently enjoyed an exciting visit to St Andrew’s Church. The trip was a fantastic opportunity for the children to deepen their understanding of Christian places of worship and explore the key features of a church building.
The church helpers guided the children through the main parts of the church, explaining the significance of the altar, pulpit, font and pews. The children were especially fascinated by the beautiful stained glass windows, learning how they tell stories from the Bible through colourful images and light.
One of the highlights of the day was the chance to ring the church bells! Each child took a turn and they were very excited to hear the sounds it made and to learn all about how and when the bells are rung.
This visit gave the children a memorable insight into the traditions and symbols of the Christian faith.
