Year 2: Literacy

July 19, 2024
To begin our new story book for our last Literacy topic about Flat Stanley, the children had the opportunity to make a kite following step-by-step instructions.

In the story, Flat Stanley was used as a kite for his brother Arthur, and this was used as the hook to engage children with the much loved story. The children used a plastic bag, dowel rods, string and tape to create their kite, and then added Flat Stanley to the front.

Then the fun began! After listening to the famous song, 'Let's go fly a kite', we skipped downstairs into the sunny playground to let the children fly their kites!

It was a fun experience for the children and has inspired some super creative writing over the last weeks!
