Last week, Year 1 had a feast for the senses in their science lesson! To enhance their learning, the children took part in a range of experiments to learn about the five senses and what parts of the body we use for each.
The first experiment tested their observation skills. The children looked at a range of objects close up on the screen before they were slowly zoomed out; some of the guesses were brilliant and children used their growing knowledge of the world around them.
For hearing, the children listened to a range of household sounds and guessed what they could be.
To test the sensory skills of touch, the children were given a feely bag with objects in so that they could use vocabulary to describe what they were feeling.
For smell, they were given two pots of differing ingredients including coffee and cinnamon which they passed round and gave their opinions on.
Finally, the sense of taste was tested with sweet honey and sour lemons!
It was truly a feast of the senses in Year 1 and all children participated brilliantly and with enthusiasm!
A great, practical learning experience was had by all!
