This half term, Year Two have been learning about percussion instruments and riffs. A riff is a short, repeated phrase used in music. The children thought back to their prior knowledge of rock music where we’d listened to a range of electric guitar riffs such as those in 'Smoke on the Water' and 'Sweet Child of Mine'. We have also been thinking about how technology is now used to create music by artists like Calvin Harris. Year Two then combined all their knowledge to use Google Chrome Music Lab to compose their own short riff based compositions using four different repeating notes.
